Georgia Tax Credit Scholarship Program

How to participate in the Georgia Department of Education Expense Credit

The Georgia Tax Credit Scholarship Program allows you to redirect a portion of your Georgia income tax dollars to Savannah Adventist Christian School by donating to the SSO, The Georgia Tuition Assistance Program (GATAP). It's a re-direction of what you already have to pay in State taxes to a scholarship fund that will help students in need of financial assistance. Please note that individual donors are not legally allowed to designate which student(s) will receive funding. This decision is left entirely to the school's Financial Aid Committee. (Use the hyperlink above to access an FAQ from the Georgia Department of Education.)

An individual or married couple can also donate up to $5,000 per year.

A C Corporation can support the Student Scholarship Organization (SSO) to the extent of 75% of its Georgia Income Tax obligations.

S Corporations, Partnerships or, in most cases, LLCs can now redirect as much as $25,000 through this program! In businesses where both spouses take an income BOTH individuals can redirect up to $25,000.

For more information, you can also contact Mr. Ram Venkataraman at info@visionsso.org.

The Georgia Tax Credit Scholarship Program has a state-wide limit of $120 million total, so we strongly urge you to get your application in early as to be guaranteed an allocation.

To be accepted by GADOR, there are a couple of important steps. First is that you must be registered with GADOR – If you have been paying taxes for the last few years in Georgia, then your name and social security numbers will already be there. If you recently moved to GA, then you must register your names and SSNs with GADOR before your application can be accepted by GADOR. Use this link to do so:

3 simple steps can make a big difference in the life of a SACS student:

  1. Complete the online application or paper form from Vision SSO. NOTE: 2023 Funds were claimed on the first day and were oversubscribed. So, make sure you submit your application as soon as possible, and absolutely no later than December 31, 2023 (for a 2024 donation).
  2. After you have received your Approval Letter from the Georgia Department of Revenue (GADOR), you have 60 days from the date of approval, to send in the donation payment. Make your check payable to Vision SSO Inc., and mail it to:

    Vision SSO, Inc.
    Attn: Ram Venkataraman
    P.O.Box 262
    Suwanee, GA 30024

Be sure to include a note specifying Savannah Adventist Christian School as your designated school recipient, and a copy of your Approval Letter from GADOR.
  3. When you file your taxes for the year in which you donated, attach copies of the documentation of your contribution (which you will receive from the SSO) and you will receive a dollar for dollar tax credit for donating to this program.

You can take advantage of this tax opportunity AND help a student by filling out the pre-approval application form TODAY! Please call or email me if you have any questions about participation in this program:  (912) 748.5977 or emartinez@gccsda.com.

Thanks for your support of Savannah Adventist Christian School!
